Student Art Pt. II: Photonics Center
7:05 PM
Aequorea Victoria, located in Boston University's very own Photonics Center, is an impressive piece of student art. Created in 2000 by CFA student Heather Richards, this work is yet another collaboration between the sciences and arts. As I mentioned in my previous post, I enjoy when the sciences and arts combine and influence one another because it becomes possible for us to create great works such as this one.
In addition, I really like the medium that was used in Aequorea Victoria. It is amazing that we can realistically recreate the jellyfish's glowing protein simply by scratching acrylic plexiglass. As someone who used to believe art was only limited to drawing, painting, and sculpting, I find Aequorea Victoria to be quite the interesting piece.
